TUTANKHAMEN DAGGER Made by Buster Warenski of Richfield, Utah this solid gold dagger is a reproduction of the one found on the mummy of the Egyptian Pharaoh, Tutankhamen. Tut came to power about the age of nine and reigned from about 1334 to 1325 BC during the Eighteenth Dynasty of the New Kingdom of Egypt. He died over 3300 years ago at about age 18. He is generally credited with restoring the cult of the Dynastic God Amun. Financed by the Earl of Carnarvon, Howard Carter discovered the tomb in 1922. Weighing 32 ounces, with a blade of hardened gold, this magnificent dagger and sheath was, and remains today, a true test of the maker's artistic ability and goldsmithing skills. It would seem reasonable that the original dagger was made by several artists. This one was made by one man. This project was conceived in 1982 and completed in 1987. The original dagger is housed in the Cairo Museum.
